How to add DataDoe to ChatGPT

ChatGPT calls them apps; you may know them as connectors. DataDoe isn’t in OpenAI’s app directory yet, so you add it yourself as a custom app. Five steps, done once in a browser.

If the app doesn’t show up

Nearly every stuck setup is one of these six. Most take a minute to sort out.

    I can’t find Developer mode

    It needs a paid ChatGPT plan and the web version. On Business, Enterprise and Edu it stays hidden until an admin turns it on for the workspace.

  2. 02

    DataDoe doesn’t appear in my chat

    Custom apps are switched on per conversation. Open + → More → Developer mode and tick DataDoe before you ask.

  3. 03

    Sign-in fails or keeps looping

    Check the server URL is exactly mcp.datadoe.com/mcp/v1 with https in front, that authentication is OAuth, and that you log in with the DataDoe account that holds the Amazon connection.

  4. 04

    Answers come back with gaps

    Recent data arrives first. About two years of history loads on connect; that backlog takes hours and can run past 48 hours, so older questions fill in over the first day or two.

  5. 05

    ChatGPT won’t make a change

    Check that the Action type is switched on and the Amazon account is set to read and write. On Plus and Pro, OpenAI may hold write calls back to Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces.

    Teammates can’t see the app

    On a team plan the admin has to publish the app to the workspace. Each person then signs in to DataDoe once.

Before you add the app to ChatGPT.

Start a DataDoe trial and approve Seller Central on Amazon's consent screen. Then, in ChatGPT on the web, turn on Developer mode under Settings → Plugins, create a custom app pointing at https://mcp.datadoe.com/mcp/v1 with OAuth authentication, then log in to DataDoe when ChatGPT prompts you. In each new chat, open + → More → Developer mode, tick DataDoe and ask.

Not yet. Until the listing is approved you add DataDoe yourself as a custom app in Developer mode, which takes about five minutes and gives you the same tools. On Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces an admin adds it once for the whole team.

They are names OpenAI has used for the same idea: an outside service that ChatGPT can call during a conversation. The custom kind runs over MCP, an open protocol, and that is how DataDoe plugs in. The setup steps on this page work whatever the menu is called on your account.

Only what you allow. Each Action type, such as listing edits, price updates, FBM shipment confirmation or Amazon Ads changes, stays disabled until you enable it, and the Amazon account must allow read and write. In a chat, ChatGPT asks you before every write; dots act only inside the rules you set. A dry run can preview a change, and the Action log keeps a record of what went through.

Any paid ChatGPT plan that offers Developer mode: Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu. On Plus and Pro you set it up yourself; on the team plans an admin enables it. Reading works on all of them; write calls may be reserved by OpenAI for Business, Enterprise and Edu.

Yes. The setup has to happen once in ChatGPT on the web. After that the DataDoe app is available in the desktop app and on iPhone and Android, and you tick it in a chat the same way.

Amazon launched its Selling Partner plugin for Claude and Amazon Quick, covering US Seller Central for third-party sellers. It has no ChatGPT listing, no Vendor Central and no Amazon Ads. DataDoe works in ChatGPT today and joins Seller Central, Vendor Central and Ads across all Amazon marketplaces.
