Perplexity already reads the open web. Add DataDoe as a custom remote connector and one answer can weigh a rival’s new coupon against your sales, Featured Offer share and ad spend, pulled fresh from Seller Central, Vendor Central and Amazon Ads.
Why did my 18″ bamboo board slip this week, and is it something a competitor did?

Units on your 18″ board fell 31% DataDoe while your Featured Offer share dropped from 74% to 52% DataDoe. The timing matches a rival listing that added a 15% coupon on Tuesday 1, and sellers report shoppers stacking it with a sale price 2. Your price did not move, theirs effectively did.

Perplexity is built to search the web and show where every sentence came from. What it cannot find on the web is your own Amazon business. With DataDoe switched on, both kinds of evidence land in the same answer, each one cited.
Three rival listings in your category added coupons between 10% and 20% since Monday.Amazon search results, read live
Your conversion on the same search terms fell from 14.2% to 9.6% over those days.
A trade article reports higher fulfilment fees in the size tier your board sits in.Industry news
Fees on your last settlement rose $0.38 a unit, and the board is still 4.1 points above your margin floor.
Recent one-star reviews on competing boards mention warping after a dishwasher cycle.Public product reviews
Your own return reasons name “warped” on fewer than 1% of units sold this year.
The conclusion only works with both sides: hold the price, add a small coupon of your own and put the dishwasher-safe claim in the first bullet.
Perplexity calls it a custom remote connector. You fill it in once on the web or in the desktop app, sign in to DataDoe, and the connector is there in every new thread.
https://mcp.datadoe.com/mcp/v1Start the trial and approve Seller Central, Vendor Central and Amazon Ads on Amazon’s own consent screens. It takes about five minutes and you only do it once.
In Perplexity, go to Account settings → Connectors, click + Custom connector and pick Remote.
Call it DataDoe and paste the server address shown in the form. Perplexity only accepts HTTPS addresses, and this is one.
DataDoe publishes its sign-in details, so the Client ID and secret can stay empty. If Perplexity asks for them anyway, write to us and we’ll send a pair.
Tick the acknowledgement and click Add. Click the new DataDoe card, log in to DataDoe in the window that opens, and the card turns on.
In the composer, turn DataDoe on under Sources or pick it from the connector list. Leave sources wider than web-only, or Perplexity will skip your connectors.
Members can only add their own connectors after an admin turns on Allow members to add custom connectors, which starts off. The alternative is to add DataDoe once under Enterprise settings → Permissions → Connectors permissions and share it with the organization. Perplexity’s guide covers both.
Each of these jobs fails if you only have one side. Market research without your margins guesses; your reports without the market miss the reason.
Perplexity searches
The top listings for “silicone baking mat”, their prices, review counts and the complaints repeated in their reviews.
DataDoe reads
What you sell next to it: Search Query Performance on related terms, your conversion and the ad cost per order in that category.
A gap worth testing, a launch price that clears your fees, and the three complaints your bullets should answer.
Perplexity searches
The announcement itself, plus how sellers and trade press read it in the first days.
DataDoe reads
Your SKUs by size tier, units per month and the fees on your latest settlement.
A dollar figure for the next quarter, per SKU, and the listings where a packaging change pays back.
Perplexity searches
Public news on the category, new entrants and price moves at other retailers.
DataDoe reads
Vendor Central sales, Net PPM, open purchase orders and how they compare to Amazon’s own forecast.
Talking points that rest on your numbers, with a source for every outside claim.
Perplexity searches
Who now advertises on your terms, and any seasonal event pushing bids up.
DataDoe reads
Sponsored Products spend, CPC and ACoS by search term over the last eight weeks.
Which terms to defend, which to drop, and bid changes staged as a dry run for your approval.
Search results about Perplexity and MCP still mix up the old local-only Mac setup with today’s remote connectors. Here is what Perplexity’s own pages say, with the link next to each line.

Perplexity also runs local MCP servers in its Mac app. DataDoe does not need that route, because it already runs as a remote server.
Each prompt asks Perplexity to search first and then check the finding against your accounts. Copy one, change the product and send it in a thread with DataDoe switched on.
Saying “use DataDoe” in the prompt helps Perplexity pick the connector instead of answering from the web alone.
Nothing in your Seller Central or Vendor Central account is on the public web, so no search engine can find it. DataDoe hands Perplexity only the rows a question needs, read through Amazon’s official APIs.
And when the answer says “change it”, five things stand in the way:
One DataDoe account serves them all. Perplexity is the pick when the question starts on the web; for other kinds of work, these guides set up the same connection.
Yes. Perplexity Pro, Max and Enterprise accounts can add custom remote connectors, which are MCP servers reached over HTTPS, under Account settings, then Connectors. The Perplexity Mac app can also run local MCP servers. DataDoe is a remote MCP server at https://mcp.datadoe.com/mcp/v1.
Connect Seller Central to DataDoe through Amazon's consent screen. Then in Perplexity open Account settings, Connectors, click + Custom connector, choose Remote, name it DataDoe, paste https://mcp.datadoe.com/mcp/v1, pick OAuth and Streamable HTTP, and click Add. Click the DataDoe card to sign in, then switch it on under Sources in a thread.
A paid plan. Perplexity offers custom connectors on Pro, Max and Enterprise. On Enterprise, an admin either lets members add their own connectors or adds DataDoe once and shares it with the organization.
Only after you allow it, twice over. DataDoe Actions ship switched off, so you enable listings, prices, FBM shipments or Amazon Ads changes type by type, and each Amazon account stays read-only until you change it. Perplexity then asks you to approve the write before it runs, a dry run can preview it, and DataDoe records it in the Action history.
Usually the connector was not switched on for that thread, or the sources were set to web only. Turn DataDoe on under Sources, and mention DataDoe in the prompt. If it still stays quiet, remove and re-add the connector so Perplexity fetches the tool list again.
Perplexity documents custom connectors on the web and in the desktop app, and notes that mobile apps can lag behind. We have not confirmed DataDoe inside Comet Assistant yet, so set it up and use it at perplexity.ai or in the desktop app for now.
DataDoe reads your accounts through Amazon's official APIs and passes Perplexity only the rows a question needs. How Perplexity stores the thread follows your Perplexity account and privacy settings.
DataDoe is $97 per month after a 14-day free trial, with Seller Central, Vendor Central and Amazon Ads on one plan and MCP use included in its AI Tokens. Perplexity bills your Pro, Max or Enterprise plan separately.
We'll add DataDoe to Perplexity on a call, run a competitor question against a demo account and show you where each citation comes from.
Book a demoConnect Seller Central, Vendor Central and Amazon Ads once. Perplexity can then weigh what it finds online against your own data — and change things only when you approve.
