Connect Amazon to Grok

Ask Grok about your Seller Central, Vendor Central and Ads numbers on grok.com, and it weighs them against what people are posting on X in the same reply.

  • One custom connector
  • Sign in, no API key
  • 14-day free trial
• Quick answer

Add DataDoe to Grok as a custom connector: Connectors → New Connector → Custom, server URL https://mcp.datadoe.com/mcp/v1, then sign in with your DataDoe account. Grok can then bring your Amazon sales, ads and inventory into any chat and set them beside its own X and web search.

• The xAI family

Which Grok for which job

DataDoe works with three xAI products and with the xAI API. Each runs somewhere different, so start with the one that sits where the work already happens.

The API recipe
• Amazon + X

Your numbers, next to the conversation

Grok searches X and the web in the same chat where it reads your DataDoe data. That combination is what sets Grok apart, and these are three questions where it pays off.

You askGrok usedWhat came back
Launch week

“We launched the bamboo cutting board on Monday. Is it on track, and is anyone talking about it?”

  • DataDoe sessions, orders and ad spend by day for the new ASIN
  • X posts that mention the brand or the board

1,140 sessions and 63 orders in five days, ACoS down from 52% to 38%. Two cooking accounts posted the board on Wednesday, and Wednesday was the best day of the week.

A competitor price cut

“Our Buy Box share on the steel bottle dropped this week. Did someone undercut us?”

  • DataDoe Buy Box share and competing offers by day
  • X deal threads and reposts of the listing

A third-party seller came in at €18.49, two euros under you, on Thursday, and a deals account shared the link the same day. Your Buy Box share went from 96% to 71%.

Before Prime Day

“Which kitchen SKUs should get more stock before Prime Day?”

  • DataDoe FBA inventory, sales velocity and search query performance
  • X posts about the kitchen products people are buying

The glass storage set: searches up 40% in 30 days and 19 days of cover left, while meal-prep posts on X picked up over the same weeks. Send in about 600 units.

Examples with sample numbers. Grok reads your Amazon data through DataDoe and searches X itself; DataDoe does not read X.

• Writes, honestly

Grok can reach Actions. Start it read-only.

xAI doesn’t document a confirmation prompt before Grok runs a connector’s tool, so we won’t promise that Grok asks before a change. These controls sit on the DataDoe side:

  • Each Amazon account is Read only or Read and write. Read only turns every Action away.
  • Action types stay off until you enable them, one type at a time.
  • You can preview a change as a dry run first, if you want to.
  • Every change is logged, with what Amazon answered.

Our advice: let Grok read and research, and make changes from a client that stops to ask, or from Grok Bot with an Ask first rule.

Add DataDoe to Grok as a custom connector

You add the connector on grok.com and sign in to DataDoe in a pop-up window, so there is no key to copy around. Grok then finds the DataDoe tools on its own.

  1. Step 1

    Start your trial

Create a DataDoe account and connect Seller Central, Vendor Central or Amazon Ads. 14 days free, then $97 a month.

    Start free trial
  2. Step 2

    Copy the MCP URL

The same endpoint serves every MCP client. In Grok you only paste it once.

    https://mcp.datadoe.com/mcp/v1
  3. Step 3

    Add it in Grok

Open Connectors (Skills and Connectors in newer menus), choose New Connector, then Custom. Name it DataDoe and paste the URL.

    Open Grok connectors
  4. Step 4

    Sign in with DataDoe

Pick your Organization in the DataDoe window and go back to Grok. Then ask: “Use DataDoe to list my connected Amazon accounts.”

    Read the Grok guide
Grok Business or Enterprise: an admin adds the connector first, at console.x.ai → your team → Grok Business → Connectors → Add Connector → Other. Each member then connects their own DataDoe account on grok.com. Admin steps in the guide
FAQ

Grok and Amazon, answered.

xAI says connectors are available to all Grok users, and DataDoe is added as a custom MCP connector. On Grok Business and Enterprise an admin has to add it before members can connect. Grok plans and prices change often, so check xAI for the current tiers. On the DataDoe side it is The Base Plan at $97 a month, with a 14-day free trial.

An admin with Team Read-Write access opens console.x.ai, picks the team, goes to Grok Business → Connectors → Add Connector → Other, enters https://mcp.datadoe.com/mcp/v1 and completes sign-in. Configure sets who can use it and Remove takes it away for everyone. Each member then connects their own DataDoe account at grok.com/connectors.

Yes. Grok uses a connector's tools when a question is about that service, and it can search X and the web in the same reply. Name both in the prompt when you want both, for example: use DataDoe for our German sales this week and check X for competitor promotions.

xAI does not document a confirmation step for custom connector tools in Grok chat, so do not rely on one. DataDoe Actions are off by default, and an account has to be set to Read and write before any change can run. Keep the accounts Grok uses read-only, preview changes as a dry run if you do use them, and check the Action log, where every change is recorded.

Not on grok.com. You sign in with your DataDoe account in the connector's authentication window and pick the Organization. A datadoe-mcp-key header is only needed where there is nobody to sign in, such as the xAI API or a CI job running Grok Build.

DataDoe refreshes your Seller Central, Vendor Central and Amazon Ads data daily, with key tables updated during the day. About two years of history is backfilled when you connect, recent data first, so Grok can compare this week with the same week last year.

Add it on the web first. xAI lists connectors on iOS and Android under Settings → Connectors, but we have not confirmed that a custom connector added on grok.com shows up there, so test it on your phone before you depend on it.

Grok on grok.com for questions and research next to X. Grok Bot for recurring work that runs while you are away, including a Team Bot in Slack. Grok Build for the terminal, scripts and scheduled reports in CI. All three use the same DataDoe account and the same MCP URL.
