Three always-on AI agents launched in four weeks. What Claude Duet, ChatGPT dots and Amazon Seller Assistant can reach on your Amazon account, and when they ask first.
In four weeks, three companies shipped the same idea. On 23 September Amazon gave Seller Assistant memory and Workflows. On 29 September OpenAI launched dots, its always-on agents in ChatGPT. On 21 October Anthropic opened a research preview of Claude Duet. Each one promises an assistant that notices what needs you, does the work while you are away, and checks with you before anything consequential.
If you sell on Amazon, the useful question is not which model is smartest. It is where each agent lives, what it can reach on your account, how it decides when to ask you, and who can actually use it today. This post compares the three on exactly those points, as of 21 October 2026.
Amazon's own assistant, built into Seller Central and free. Since Accelerate it remembers context across sessions and runs saved Workflows on a schedule or a trigger, even when you are logged out. Amazon ships ready-made ones (Account Health Monitor, Order & Returns Digest, Pricing Analyzer, Product Expansion Finder, Review & Feedback Requestor), and you can describe your own in plain language and preview it on simulated data before switching it on. Each Workflow is set to recommend or to act, sensitive steps such as refunds and buyer messages wait for approval, and every run keeps a history. More in our guide to Amazon Seller Assistant.
OpenAI's always-on agents, announced at DevDay. A dot runs on GPT-6 Astra on its own cloud computer with a browser, works toward a goal on its own schedule, and reports in ChatGPT, Slack or Microsoft Teams. You give it a rule for each kind of action: act alone, ask first, or hand it back to you. Dots came to ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium first, with Enterprise once an admin enables them; Plus does not include them. Our guide to dots for Amazon sellers covers the routines in detail.
Anthropic's new app in which Claude works as a proactive agent. It runs on Claude Opus 5.5, keeps working in the cloud after you close the app, sends a morning brief, follows up on threads that went quiet, and hands larger results back as files, dashboards included. It carries over the memory, skills and connected apps from your Claude account. Anthropic says it shows you exactly what it is about to do and waits before it sends something sensitive, makes a payment or deletes anything. It is a research preview for Pro and Max subscribers in the US, on iOS, Android and the web, through a waitlist.
Whatever the agent's rules, the system it writes through should have its own gate. In DataDoe, Actions stay off until you enable them, most AI clients ask before a change, and every change is logged with its payload. Prices and listings can run as a dry run first.
An always-on agent is only as good as what it can see when it wakes up. On an Amazon business, the things that decide whether a morning brief is right or wrong usually sit in more than one place:
None of the three agents solves that by itself, because none of them is a data layer. Seller Assistant sees one Seller Central account in depth. Dots and Duet see whatever you connect.
DataDoe is the Amazon data and action layer that an agent like Duet or a dot works through. One connection gives it Seller Central, Vendor Central and Amazon Ads in one schema, with history, across all Amazon marketplaces, for one account or many. It works in Claude, ChatGPT and the other major AI clients, so the routine you build does not depend on which agent wins.
Seller Assistant is Amazon's own product and does not use DataDoe. Many sellers will run both: Seller Assistant for account health and support cases inside Seller Central, and Duet or a dot on DataDoe for the cross-account, cross-channel picture. We compared the two directly in DataDoe vs Amazon Seller Assistant.
Dots and Duet can also open Seller Central in a browser and click through it. When a proper connection exists, they should not. We explain why in AI agents and computer use in Seller Central.
Not yet. The research preview is for Pro and Max subscribers in the US, through a waitlist, and Team and Enterprise plans are not included.
Duet uses the apps connected to your Claude account. Connect DataDoe to Claude first (Customize, then Connectors, then Add), then check that it shows up in Duet once your invite arrives.
It depends on the agent's rules and on what the connection allows. A dot can be told to act alone, Seller Assistant Workflows can be set to act, and the approvals Anthropic lists for Duet cover messages, payments and deletions. With DataDoe, nothing on Amazon can change until you switch on that Action type, and every change is logged.
Probably yes, for what only Amazon can do from the inside: support cases, account health and policy issues. Use the external agent for the questions that need data from more than one place.
DataDoe is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon, OpenAI or Anthropic. Details come from each company's announcement and help pages as of 21 October 2026. Claude Duet and ChatGPT dots are new, so plans and availability may change.
