Claude Duet for Amazon Sellers: What It Can Watch, and What It Can't See

Claude Duet is Anthropic's always-on agent. What it should check on an Amazon account daily, what Amazon's free plugin gives it, and what it still can't see.

On 21 October 2026 Anthropic opened Claude Duet, a version of Claude that does not wait to be asked. It is the third always-on agent an Amazon seller has been offered in a month: Amazon added Workflows to Seller Assistant on 23 September, OpenAI launched ChatGPT dots on 29 September, and now Claude has one of its own.

All three promise the same thing: notice what needs you, and keep working while you are away. For an Amazon business, how clever the agent is matters less than what it is able to look at. This post covers what Duet is, what a proactive agent should check on an Amazon account every day, the three routes Duet has to your Amazon data, and the parts of your business it stays blind to unless something gives it the data. For the three agents side by side, see Claude Duet, ChatGPT dots and Amazon Seller Assistant compared.

Claude Duet in one paragraph

Duet is a separate app, on iOS, Android and the web, built around Claude Opus 5.5. It runs on its own cloud computer, so it keeps going after you close the app, and it has its own cloud browser for sites that have no connector. You talk to it in a main thread and in topic channels that share one memory. It prepares a morning brief from your email and calendar, follows up on threads that went quiet, keeps a Tasks tab, and saves bigger outputs (research briefs, financial models, decks, dashboards) as files in a Make tab. Anthropic says it brings over the memory, skills and connected apps from your Claude account. Before anything sensitive goes out, before a payment and before a deletion, it lays out the step and holds until you agree. At launch it is a research preview for Pro and Max subscribers in the US only, through a waitlist, with invitations going out in batches. Team and Enterprise plans are on the roadmap but not covered yet. There is no extra charge, but background work counts against your plan's usage limits, so you reach them sooner.

What an always-on agent should check on an Amazon account

An agent that runs on its own is only worth having if it looks at the right things before you do. On a typical Amazon account that means a short list of daily checks, each of which needs specific data:

  • Yesterday against the same day last week, by marketplace and by ASIN: units, sales, refunds. It needs orders and refunds with at least a few weeks of history.
  • The Featured Offer on your best sellers. It needs competing offers and your own costs, or it cannot tell whether matching a price still makes money.
  • Stock cover against what is on the way. It needs FBA inventory, inbound shipments and daily sales velocity.
  • Ad spend that bought nothing. It needs search terms and campaign spend, plus your margin per SKU to know where break-even ACoS sits.
  • A jump in refunds or returns on a single ASIN, which often points at a listing or a supplier problem before reviews do.
  • Suppressed or blocked listings, with the reason Amazon gives.
  • For vendors: new purchase orders, how many units were confirmed, and where Amazon's forecast runs ahead of your stock.

A morning brief that covers these is the difference between an agent you read every day and one you switch off after a week.

Three routes from Duet to your Amazon data

1. Its cloud browser

Duet can open Seller Central and click through it like a person would. It works for a one-off look, but it is slow, it breaks when Amazon changes a screen, it sees only what a page shows today, and it cannot reach restricted buyer data. Signing an agent in with your own login also puts account health at risk. We covered the trade-offs in AI agents and computer use in Seller Central.

2. Amazon's Selling Partner plugin

Amazon's free plugin is listed in Claude's connector directory, and connected apps are what Anthropic says Duet inherits. For a US third-party seller it covers sales, inventory and traffic in Seller Central, and it can draft listing fixes, price changes and FBA inbound plans for you to approve. Our guide to the Amazon Selling Partner plugin for Claude explains its setup and scope.

3. A data layer such as DataDoe

DataDoe is added to Claude as a custom connector, by pasting its server address under Customize → Connectors → Add. It gives Claude Seller Central, Vendor Central and Amazon Ads data in one schema, with history and your product costs. One thing is still open: Anthropic has confirmed that connected apps carry over to Duet, but has not said if custom connectors, the kind you add by pasting a URL, come with them. We are testing it from a US account and will update this post with the result. Until then, everything below describes the data, not a confirmed Duet setup. What is confirmed so far, and what is not, is kept current on our Claude Duet for Amazon page.

What Duet is blind to on Seller Central alone

Give Duet only the free plugin and it has a clear view of one US Seller Central account as it stands today. Most of the questions that decide whether an Amazon business makes money sit outside that view:

  • Ad spend. Without Amazon Ads data, the brief can say sales fell on an ASIN but not that its campaign ran out of budget at noon, or that a keyword spent $400 with no orders.
  • Vendor Central. A brand that sells to Amazon Retail and as a seller has half its business missing: POs, confirmation rates, Retail Analytics, Net PPM.
  • Profit per SKU. Sales minus fees is not profit. The agent needs your landed cost and the ad spend behind each SKU before it can say which products are paying for the others.
  • Last year. "Is this Q4 ahead of last Q4?" needs history that you keep, not only what Amazon shows this week.
  • Marketplaces outside the US. A seller in the UK, Germany or Japan as well as the US gets a partial brief.
  • More than one account. An agency or a group with several brands wants one brief across all of them. Duet is not on Claude Team yet, so for agencies this is a question for later in any case.

None of this is a flaw in Duet. An agent can only report on data it can reach, and a single Seller Central login reaches one slice of the business.

What DataDoe adds under the agent

DataDoe pulls Seller Central, Vendor Central and Amazon Ads through Amazon's official APIs and joins them by SKU and ASIN with the costs you upload, across all Amazon marketplaces and with history you can keep. Its 130+ documented tables cover orders, settlements, inventory, returns, campaigns, search terms and Vendor Central reporting. The same data is available over the API, as exports and in BigQuery.

For a proactive agent, the point is the questions it can now answer without you. Morning prompts that make sense once both are connected:

  • "Each morning, give me yesterday's profit by marketplace after Amazon fees, ads and landed cost, next to the same weekday a week earlier, and explain the three biggest movers."
  • "Warn me if any of my 20 best-selling ASINs drops the Featured Offer, and work out the price floor that protects a 20% margin."
  • "Which SKUs will sell out before the next inbound shipment arrives, and how much revenue does each gap cost?"
  • "Show search terms with over $50 of spend and zero orders in the past three days."
  • "For Vendor Central, show new POs and the units we have not confirmed yet."

Amazon's plugin and DataDoe can sit side by side on one Claude account. Plenty of sellers will keep the plugin for quick listing fixes and use DataDoe for everything that needs Ads, Vendor Central, history or profit.

Changes to Amazon stay off until you switch them on

DataDoe can also write: listings, prices, orders and shipments, and Amazon Ads campaigns. Each kind of change, called an Action type, is disabled until you turn it on, the Amazon account itself needs read-and-write access, a change can be tried as a dry run first, and each Action is recorded in a log with what it sent.

Duet's own approvals are a headline feature: Anthropic says it waits before sending sensitive information, paying or deleting. Whether a write that goes through a connector, such as a price change through DataDoe, also waits for you has not been confirmed. Until it has, the safe setup for an agent that works while you sleep is read access only, or Actions limited to dry runs, and a look at the log each morning. Actions stay off until you enable them, most AI clients ask before a change, and every change is logged.

What we are testing next

  1. Whether a custom connector added by URL carries over from Claude to Duet.
  2. Whether a DataDoe Action waits for approval in Duet, or only messages, payments and deletions do.
  3. Whether Duet can put DataDoe numbers into its morning brief and watch for a condition between briefs, such as a lost Featured Offer or ACoS above a line.
  4. Whether a dashboard built on DataDoe data can come out of the Make tab as a file.
  5. Which connector Duet suggests when you ask an Amazon question.

We will update this post as each one is answered. For the Claude setup itself, see how to connect Amazon to Claude.

Questions people ask

Is Claude Duet available outside the US?

Not at launch. The research preview is US only, for Claude Pro and Max subscribers, through a waitlist. Anthropic has not given a date for other countries.

Does Claude Duet cost extra?

No. It is included with Pro and Max, but its background work draws on the same usage limits as the rest of your Claude plan.

Can I use Claude Duet on a Claude Team plan?

Not yet. Team and Enterprise are on Anthropic's list for later. In the meantime, teams can keep using Claude, Cowork or Claude Tag with DataDoe.

Does DataDoe work in Claude Duet?

In Claude, DataDoe is added as a custom connector. Duet inherits whatever is connected in your Claude account, but nobody has confirmed yet that custom connectors are part of that. We will say so here once we have tested it.

Do I need DataDoe if I have Amazon's free plugin?

Not if you are a single US seller who only needs Seller Central. You need a data layer once the agent should see ads, Vendor Central, profit per SKU, history, other marketplaces or several accounts.

DataDoe is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic or Amazon. Details on Claude Duet come from Anthropic's announcement and press coverage on 21 October 2026, and may change during the research preview.
